A mercantile,
for the modern route.
Mercantile opened as a single rack of tees in the back of a gear shop that mostly sold rope and boots. The idea was simple: make one shirt, make it right, and stop trying to make forty different ones badly.
That rack is gone. The shirt stayed. Every tee we sell today still traces back to that first run — heavyweight cotton, dyed after it's cut, printed with marks pulled from real maps and real compasses instead of stock art. We don't chase trends because the trip doesn't care what season it is.
We build for people who'd rather own five shirts that last five years than fifty that don't survive the summer. If that's you, welcome to the mercantile.

Three rules we don't break.
Make it heavier than it needs to be
A tee that's too light tears, pills, and goes see-through in a year. We start at 6.5oz and go up from there — you'll feel the difference on the first wear.
Fix it, don't replace it
Every Mercantile tee carries a lifetime repair promise. Blown-out seam, faded print, worn collar — send it back and we'll make it right instead of selling you a new one.
Design from the real thing
Our badges start as actual topo lines, compass headings, and range silhouettes — redrawn by hand, not pulled from a template library.
“Buy less. Wear it longer. Repair it when it breaks. That's the whole business model.”— Mercantile Field Notes
